Acceptable Saddles

We have decided to place further limitations on the English saddles we will accept into the sale.

This is to reduce the overall number of saddles consigned, ensure that the saddles available are quality and safe to use on horses, and to increase the number of English saddles sold under this format.

Please read the guidelines carefully and study the examples provided. We reserve the right to refuse any items based on salability. If you are unsure if your saddle meets our guidelines, please text photos to 913.239.9947 for evaluation.

1. English saddles must be priced at or below $1000. We have found that higher-end saddles sell best in our regular consignment where trials are allowed. If you have an English saddle valued over $1000 you are interested in consigning to Tricolor Tack, please text 913.239.9947 or bring it by for evaluation.

2. English saddles must have knee pads on the flaps. Suede knee pads are acceptable so long as the padding is in good condition.

   1. Any saddles made without knee pads are easily over 30 years old. This is the most identifiable feature that can tell age in a saddle. Saddle technology has advanced significantly in the last 10+ years, as has research into the importance of good saddle fit to ensure performance and increase longevity for sport horses.

3. English saddles must have panels in good condition that are soft and supple.
